Energy is very closely associated to human life, industry, and ecological value. For sustainable development, governments are actively investing in sustainable energy technologies in energy generation, energy storage, energy saving, smart microgrid, and low carbon emission technology areas. The Center for Energy Research (CER) consists of experts from mechanical engineering, energy engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, materials, chemistry, environmental engineering, geosciences, economics and other fields. At the same time, CER actively cooperates with the Industrial Technology Research Institute, the Institute of Nuclear Energy, China Steel Corporation, Taiwanese Petroleum Corporation CPC, Taipower Company, etc. Primary research topics include bio-mass energy, batteries and super-capacitors, hydrogen energy and fuel cells, power to fuels, energy-saving, and system integration and energy management.
1. Batteries and super-capacitors. Develop novel electrode and electrolyte materials and microstructures.
2. Fuel cells. Catalysts, flow field, and cell design for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. Anode material, cathode material, electrolyte material, cell design and system analysis for solid-oxide fuel cells.
3. Power to fuels. Electrode and electrolyte materials for solid-oxide electrolyzer cells, doped graphene and layered double hydroxides for hydrogen generation.
4. System integration and energy management. Power conditioning system and energy management system for hybrid power systems. Distributed sensing and data analysis for user-oriented control and management.
