The College of Engineering at National Central University is committed to advancing bilingual education not merely as a slogan, but by steadily incorporating it into both its curriculum and institutional practices. Dean Heng-Guang Tsao emphasized that, as one of the key bilingual colleges designated by the Ministry of Education, the College bears the responsibility of taking the lead.
In line with the Ministry’s policies, the College has been increasing the proportion of EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) courses each year, especially by gradually introducing English-taught instruction into required undergraduate courses so that students are immersed in an international linguistic environment from their very first year.
This year, the College has also joined the Chunghsin Corporation's “TOEIC Honors Program,” allowing students to enjoy discounted test registration fees; those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds may even apply for subsidies to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder their learning.
Exams and institutional measures are only one part of the effort. The College places even greater emphasis on whether students can apply English in their daily lives. To support this goal, it has planned a range of learning resources—including free small-group classes, bilingual self-directed learning communities, and intercultural lectures—so students can encounter and use English naturally outside the classroom as well.
