Purpose
The Intelligent Manufacturing Research Center is responsible for the education, promotion, innovation, R&D, and technical services of "Intelligent Manufacturing". The Center combines talents and manpower from various fields, inside and outside the National Central University (NCU), to establish an internationally competitive intelligent manufacturing research team. This professional research center aims to become a credible model for the government and the private enterprise.

Objectives
Based on the existing enterprise resource planning center (ERP) in NCU, the Center combined with the departments of Information Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Engineering Management, etc., to establish a non-traditional processing smart factory based on Industry 4.0 in 2015. The Center mainly develops the laser-, electrical discharge-, and electrochemical processing-based technologies. The techniques of AI, big data analysis, and edge computing are also integrated to promote the curriculum and research fields of intelligent manufacturing, to develop a complete industry 4.0 spirit, and to cultivate students with industrial expertise interdisciplinary talents in need.
In 2021, the Center introduced Chunghwa Telecom's 5G enterprise private network and became the first 5G smart factory for universities and colleges in Taiwan. By combining the advantages of high bandwidth and low latency of 5G network with the smart mobile robot (AMR),the Center  deployed a seamless 5G wireless network with full coverage to broaden the applications of AMR in the smart factory and realize seamless man-machine collaboration. Through 5G network integration and real-time feedback of various sensors for big data analysis, the Center has established an intelligent manufacturing service platform that is able to help domestic manufacturers develop intelligent manufacturing related technologies.
In recent years, the Center keeps implementing the outputs form Ministry of Education's Intelligent manufacturing-related talent cultivation programs and the Ministry of Science and Technology's objective-oriented research programs to the promote teaching and research capabilities. The Center actively cultivate talents required for domestic intelligent manufacturing and help the industry to realize intelligent manufacturing.

Teaching and Research Field
To implement the teaching of intelligent manufacturing in practice as the core, the Center actively participates in domestic research projects and implements the research achievements in the curriculum teaching to strengthen students’ problem-solving ability.
